If you missed last week’s post, in which Paulo introduces his novel The Zahir, I recommend reading it before continuing here. This is a novel about a successful novelist obsessed with finding his wife, who has disappeared from his life leaving him with a life without meaning. The unnamed narrator of this story is a wildly successful novelist and celebrity who lives in Paris with his wife Esther, a war correspondent. Through The Zahir, Coelho presents the philosophical and spiritual chronicle of a man’s quest for self-discovery.
