All Women Are Witches - The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho
Week 2 of our Book Club read along.
“In the book, a character says, “All women are witches.” Do you mean that as a positive thing?”
This is the provocative question Valerie Reiss poses to Paulo Coelho in the last pages of the 2007 UK paperback edition of The Witch of Portobello. Of course, she is anticipating that more than one connotation will be taken from this statement. From a negative standpoint, it could reflect a possible misogynistic attitude. But the interviewer suggested it could also be a positive statement and this is how Paulo replied to the question:
